Tips on Home Nursing

Home Nursing - is the act of taking care of a sick person at home focusing on the patients' needs well-being.

Importance of Home Nursing:

1. The patient feels secured emotionally and mentally.

2. The patient is encouraged to participate in home activities making him useful and an active part of the family.

3. Provides an opportunity for training as a home nurse for the family members.

4. Less expensive than hospital care.

Characteristics of a Home Nurse:

1. Cheerful - helps the patients fast recovery.

2. Patient and Tolerant - if the patient is not cooperative enough during the illness.

3. Considerate - understands the patients moods and the physical pain suffered.

4. Attentive and Receptive - giving urgent needs of the patient.

5. Responsible and Dependable - follows doctor's instructions strictly and accurately.

6. Systematic and Orderly - adopting an easy way of keeping data and record about the patients progress.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Home Nurse:

1. Communicate clearly with the physician.

2. Keep written records accurately for doctor's monitoring of the patients exact condition.

3. Keep the patients room clean and orderly.

4. Administer and store drugs properly.

5. Observe proper hygiene for the protection of the patient and the home nurse.

6. Always observe safety precautions.
