A novel way to see Europe is sailing on its rivers. A cruise could take you right into the heart of Europe and beyond, from Provence to Arles in southern France or the Normandy area or you can do the eastern cities of Budapest, to Prague, Bratislavia and parts of central Europe such as Vienna or Berlin.
There is the river cruise from Moscow to St. Ptersburg, along which you could see the various facets of Russia.
